Panarctic Bioclimatic Subzones

Key:  Subzone A    Subzone B    Subzone C    Subzone D    Subzone E

This map displays the bioclimate subzones defined by the Circumpolar Arctic vegetation Map for the North American arctic ecozone (CAVM Team, 2003). The CAVM approach divided the arctic into five subzones based on mean July temperature, the dominant plant growth forms, and the number of vascular plant species present in the local flora.  A description of each of the subzones can be found on the CAVM website

The Google Earth shapefile for the CAVM Circumpolar Arctic Bioclimate Subzones can be downloaded here.
